Course Overview:

Open bite remains one of the most complex challenges in clear aligner therapy—particularly when it appears unexpectedly at the end of treatment. This course delves into the multifactorial causes of open bite relapse or emergence, and offers clear, evidence-based strategies to diagnose, prevent, and manage this malocclusion. Through clinical case reviews, biomechanics principles, and practical protocols, attendees will learn how to troubleshoot open bite issues effectively and optimize aligner outcomes from planning to retention.

Learning Objectives:

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify the key anatomical, functional, and treatment-related factors that contribute to open bite in clear aligner therapy.

  2. Evaluate the main reason for open bite when treating patients with clear aligners.

  3. Implement strategies in treatment planning, staging, and attachment design to prevent or correct open bite.

  4. Apply finishing and retention techniques to maintain long-term stability in previously open bite-prone cases.
